The distinctive shroud inspired by spats from the 19th century serves as a stylish streetwear component, while the combination of Zoom Air and Nike Air cushioning makes the court wear comfortable. The Air Jordan 16 ‘Midnight Navy’ would not see its first retro until 2016 after its release in 2001. The design features Jordan branding consisting of seventeen dots and dashes as a call-out to the Air Jordan 16’s position in the Jordan legacy.
